Royal Brothers
“During college, I was part of a racing team called Ashwa racing, I had a good stint with them where I went to Italy and 4 years I continuously worked towards building a car from scratch, we built a 4-wheeler body around a 2-wheeler Yamaha engine. This is where my love for automobile happened. I went and joined the E-cell in my college because I thought it would help me, but after the first day, I dropped out and built my first start up, Awed by creativity, we were designing anything given by our customers. Be it webpage or be it a wedding card or even a personalised greeting card. When all the other students were in the E-cell, I built my first product”
“My cofounder was a lecturer in my college at RVCE. We both joined RVCE together, me as a student and him as a lecturer. His way of teaching was completely practical, he did not believe in the traditional ways of teaching. With him as a faculty coordinator and I, a student coordinator, we actually made 20 industrial visits happen in an academic year. This helped me a lot in terms of exposure and building a good rapport with my lecturer. I was almost ready pay the fee for my masters and fly to Cardiff when he approached me to collaborate and start something new. I sat down for a day or 2 to think what to do? 2 years down the lane I think I made the right choice.”
“When I was in college, my parents lived in my native, Chikkaballapur. I used to travel back to Chikkaballapur every Friday night and come back on Monday morning. I spent 2 days every week with my parents. After Royal Brothers happened, I started going home after 2 or 3 months and I had a clash with my parents. To manage both my personal life and professional was hectic for the first 12 to 18 months. I used to start my day at 6 am and close at 11 pm because we did not have enough employees nor we had enough funds to hire employees and we sat on the floor and worked. I am still trying to figure out how to manage both parts of my life and my parents are more supportive now because they know what I do, they know I am building a product, a community.”
